The Mazda MX-30 debuted at the 2019 Tokyo auto show and gave us a glimpse at what the future of Mazda could look like. The upcoming Mazda MX-30 will be Mazda's first all-electric vehicle, coming with a striking exterior design, a highly efficient lithium-ion battery, and a unique interior design. Exterior Design

The upcoming Mazda MX-30 will be sure to turn heads wherever it goes with futuristic, stunning design. As a sub-compact, you can expect pronounced wheel arches, broad shoulders, and a wide stance for an adventurous road presence. The Mazda MX-30 is equally suited for a night on the town with its sleek coupe-like roofline and stylish rear-hinged back doors.

Interior Design

The Mazda MX-30 embodies Mazda's "Human Modern" concept with hand-crafted materials and a human-centric approach. You can expect a sense of openness as soon as you enter the cabin. Mazda focuses on interior comfort, craftsmanship, and an attachment to the environment. With features like Heritage Cork in the center console and breathable fabric made from recycled bottles, you can enjoy an interior that is as natural and sustainable as it is elegant.

The Mazda MX-30 features a floating console that frees up space and looks good doing it. The spacious front seats can fold to allow for additional rear passengers. The freestyle doors give the Mazda MX-30 an open feel and allow for creative use. Every inch of this upcoming sub-compact crossover has been carefully designed for your relaxation, comfort, and aesthetics.


The Mazda MX-30 will have one electric motor that will be mounted in the front under the SUV's hood. This may mean that it will come with a forward-wheel drivetrain. This e-SKYACTIV® powertrain delivers the sporty yet smooth driving experience that you expect from Mazda. We will learn more about the Mazda MX-30's horsepower as we come closer to the release date.

A 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery allows for both AC and DC charging and produces a total voltage of 355V. With the flexibility of charging on both AC and DC power, drivers will have more options for where and when they charge the Mazda MX-30. While the electric driving range has not yet been released, it will likely offer around 250 miles of range to compete with others in its class.

The same goes for fuel-economy estimates, but to stay close to its competitors, it will likely offer around 120 MPGe.


Not only will the upcoming Mazda MX-30 digital panel for the climate controls and vehicle settings, but it will also have a secondary display for infotainment features that include the audio system, navigation, and backup camera. It's expected that the Mazda MX-30 will have the latest infotainment system that comes with the Mazda3, so it will likely have Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration.


The Mazda MX-30 will allow for extra confidence, awareness, and security with its innovative safety and driver assistance features. The i-Activesense® suite will likely come standard and include crucial safety features. This SUV will have exceptional collision safety performance with its rigid body structures that absorb crash energy. Some of the safety and driver assistance features you can count on include:
